Duct Tape Wart Removal Technique With Apple Cider Vinegar Ninja Mode

Mama Told Me So

I “left the nest” to go to college right after graduating high school. Like most moms do before their kids ship off to school, I was emphatically told to ALWAYS wear my flip flops in the shower. If I didn’t, I would face perilous consequences. I would incur the dermatological wrath of athlete’s foot, toe fungus and WARTS!

Despite ignoring most of my mother’s advice of this nature growing up (you can’t blame me… she always over-exaggerated these things), I actually listened to her on this one. Every time I showered that first quarter during my freshman year in college, I protected my virgin feet and wore my flip flops. Until one day my flip flops became swallowed in the abyss of my dorm room. So… I showered a few nights without my flip flops. Big mistake!

Sure enough, I developed a common wart on the bottom of my left foot. Over the years I tried Dr. Scholl’s salicylic acid wart discs, Compound W, Freeze-Away and even a desperate and painful attempt involving a fire-flamed pocket knife… but without success. I put that sucker into the ICU a few times but it always fought back, eventually returning more resilient than before.

What Would MacGyver Do?

I am a child of the 80’s and my earliest TV hero (aside from Scooby Doo of course) was none other than the legendary MacGyver, a man who could make a homemade bomb from a toilet paper roll, duct tape, some metal filings and a cupboard of household cleaners. He could do amazing things with the most simple and ordinary items.  He could get out of any situation.

The lesson? Sometimes the answer to a problem is sitting right in front of you, staring you in the face. You just needed to look at it through the eyes of MacGyver!

Enter duct tape, the greatest gift ever bestowed upon mankind. If MacGyver had a wart he’d intuitively know to strangle that son of a gun with a strip of duct tape. That’s right, if you simply duct tape warts, they die. You can now add “wart remover” to duct tape’s amazing, low-tech, do-it-yourself super powers.

*Note: The duct tape wart removal procedure does not involve any type of Brazilian Waxing style of “ripping-off” the wart. No worries. This is painless.

MacGyver Wart Removal Technique – Pt 1

    1. Clean wart and surrounding skin
    2. Rip off a small square of duct tape and cover the wart
    3. Rip off a larger strip of duct tape and slap it across the entire area, including the smaller square of duct tape
    4. Rub that tape against your skin really good, making sure it’s solidly adhered
    5. Let that duct tape suffocate your wart like a ninja boss executing an ancient Chinese strangle hold
    6. Keep sealed for 1 day

MacGyver Wart Removal Technique – Pt 2

    1. Remove duct tape and inspect wart
    2. Use fine sandpaper or a pumice stone to sand away dead tissue
    3. Take shower, making sure to clean wart area
    4. Dry area thoroughly and repeat Part 1
    5. After a day or two you should notice that the wart is disappearing significantly
    6. If you have a deeply embedded wart, you may discover a hole appear, as if the duct tape is eating the wart right out. If so, you can speed up the removal process by using the Apple Cider Vinegar Wart Healing Boost

    1. After a day or two, a deeply embedded wart will have been greatly eaten away, leaving a small hole

1. Create Mini Goals

Don’t start this year with a broad New Years Resolution. You know, the resolution that isn’t specific and part of you already knows you won’t follow through on. There is an art to goal making as well as a certain psychology we don’t appreciate. It’s more important to complete a small goal, than only partially complete a large goal. When we repeatedly fail to reach our goals we reinforce a psychological behavioral pattern that sets us up for future failures. What is your main goal? Write it down. Now, break it into smaller mini-goals you know you can easily accomplish. Be specific. Each time you reach a mini-goal you reinforce a pattern of success. Each mini-goal is a victory that breeds confidence to tackle the next.

2. Try Something New Every Month

It’s important to break out of old patterns and try something new from time to time. New experiences are our catalysts for personal growth. Every month plan on checking out a new restaurant you saw on the way home, check out that concert you heard was coming to town or take a class that teaches a hobby you find interesting. Watch your world expand.

3. Think Less, Do More

I think Yoda once said, in his backward way of speaking, “There is no think, only do.” Most of us tend to think too much and act too little. We tend to distract ourselves by endless fact gathering followed by a never ending pro/con debate. Sometimes when we are trying to put a plan into action we over analyze. We gather so much information to make our decision that we are too overwhelmed to mentally move. They call this Analysis Paralysis. Don’t let it happen to you! Remember, nothing is going to ever be quite perfect, so just make a decision and go with it. Let it ride. Make adjustments as you go. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

4. Attitude of Gratitude & Gratitude Journal

One of the largest factors for happiness is the amount of gratitude one has in their heart.  Gratitude is a sincere appreciation and gratefulness for things in your life. Don’t think you have anything to be grateful for? Of course you do. You have plenty. You need to cultivate that gratitude. You can do this by keeping a Gratitude Journal. Write 3 things you are grateful for in your Gratitude Journal at the end of each day. Don’t just think about what you should be grateful for, you need to connect emotionally and really feel that sincere thankfulness. Small or big… doesn’t matter. Go further and challenge yourself to write down why you are grateful for a friend and then call them up and share. You’ll be amazed at the effect.

5. Plan A Trip With Friends or Family

Family, friends and the relationships we enjoy are paramount to our overall well-being. Nurture and maintain these relationships by planning a fun vacation or simple outing with a group of friends or family members. Experience something new together, reconnect and laugh. It will charge your spiritual batteries and boost your gratitude and happiness.

6. Meditate 10 Minutes Every Day

Meditation not only relieves stress, anxiety and a blue mood but it also sharpens the mind, opens personal awareness and has been proven to help you perform tasks better. You don’t need to sit in some fancy, eastern lotus position or anything exotic. You can simply sit in a chair with your feet on the floor, close your eyes, relax, focus on your breath as you inhale and exhale and clear your mind. Thoughts will pop in… just brush them away. You’ll get better at keeping the thoughts from intruding. Meditation is a great way to start the day or regather your wits during a stressful day. Enjoy all the benefits of meditation!

7. Balance Your Brain

Do you tend to always think concrete and logically? You are probably mostly a left brain thinker and would benefit from adding some activities that exercise the abstract, right side of your brain. Try drawing, painting, singing, playing a musical instrument or just letting your imagination wander while you listen to music. Do you tend to be emotional, artistic, a little scatter-brained and a bit of a dreamer? You are probably mostly a right brain thinker and would benefit from adding some activities that exercise the logical, left side of your brain. Try a few Sudoku puzzles, reading an interesting non-fiction topic, or find a controversial subject and list your arguments for your position. Many of us have a blend of both but we can become imbalanced. Strike that equilibrium!

8. Create Your Own  Superhuman Supplement Blend

Taking a multi-vitamin and a few supplements is an easy way to boost your body’s nutrition and optimum functioning. Everyone has slightly different needs so research what supplements you need to take to remedy what you lack in or what you want to boost. 9. Give More Hugs

It doesn’t take a scientist to understand that physical affection makes us feel good but many of us don’t know how far the benefits go. When we hug someone our brain releases serotonin and oxytocin. These two happy chemicals strengthen the bond between two people, make us feel happy and also make us feel more secure. Our immune system also responds to hugs. It’s like a magical GO! signal for enhanced immunity. So make sure you’re getting your hugs in!

10. Read For Leisure

recent study conducted at the University of Sussex found that reading fiction is actually better at calming our nerves than listening to music, taking a walk or having a cup of tea. In fact, the study found that reading reduced stress by an enormous 68%. Reading effectively reduced heart rate and stress levels after only 6 minutes of reading. Not bad. Reading is also a great activity to relax the mind before bed, for good sleep hygiene. Add it to your before-bed regimen.

11. Expect Less, Give More

In our society we expect a lot and often times don’t give nearly as much as we think we do. Most problems and arguments arise from unmet expectations. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be some basic, realistic standards within our relationships but let them be just that… basic. I’m also speaking mostly about personal relationships not business or work relationships. When we let go of expecting things from our friends, family and significant others we begin to appreciate and enjoy the things they do for us to a much higher degree when we receive them. Everyone is happier. Try to love and give without expecting anything in return. It will transform your world.

12. Get A Massage Every Month

We store of lot of our stress, worries and fears deep in our muscle tissues. Men tend to stores theirs more in the neck and shoulders while women in the hips. Get a deep tissue massage at least once a month to release this tension and negative energy. Massage stimulates blood flow, removes toxins, enhances immune function, relieves anxiety and depression, improves sleep, relieves digestive issues, increases alertness, relieves headaches and body pain… the list goes on. During the process we feel relaxed and afterward we begin to feel revitalized. Massage is even being covered by many health insurances now.

13. Connect Spiritually Each Week

Spiritual connection doesn’t have to be religious. All I mean by connecting spiritually is finding something that provides you a deeper or larger connection. It could be time spent in the woods, personal reflection by a lake, fishing, star-gazing, a church service or even getting lost in a philosophical idea. Whatever brings you spiritual nourishment, or in other words, fills your soul with a deep sense of appreciation, connection, reverence and awe. Provide yourself an activity of this nature at least once a week. You’ll find it calming and help you conduct your life from a better vantage point.

14. Fast Once A Month

Once a month give your digestive track a break and do a water or juice fast. A simple thing like not eating for one day a month has enormous health benefits. Everything that we are made of as a human being is assimilated from the food we get from our gut. If its not working right we aren’t incorporating quality ingredients for our body to construct us. You aren’t what you eat… you are what you digest and absorb. Your GI tract is constantly working and it’s easy to get it gunked up over time. By giving it a break, your body can do a little maintenance and repair; a little detox and destressing. Also, try to do a cleanse this year. One of the oldest and most common is the Master Cleanse. 15. Clean Out Your Closet

Literally and figuratively, clean out your closet. When we are surrounded by clutter our minds naturally pick up on this environmental cue and it feels cluttered and scattered as well. Make your environment clean and tidy. Also, go through your belongings and make a Goodwill bag for anything you no longer need. You’ll feel lighter after you do. Emotionally and mentally let go of past grievances, issues and other things that weigh you down. Read this article on attachment and letting go for a little food for thought.

16. Plan But Don’t Control

John Lennon gave us that great quote, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.” It’s good to think things through  and make well laid out plans but life is going to throw you curve balls. We have to face it; we can’t control everything. When things don’t quite go according to plan, don’t let it bring your whole world down. Greet the challenge with an expectant smile and adjust accordingly.

17. Start Each Day Drinking 2 Cups of Water

First thing out of bed, start your day by drinking 2 cups of water… warm water if you can. This energizes the bowels, organs and metabolic systems. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water throughout the day too. Approximately half a gallon to a gallon of water a day is a good healthy range. Your body will thank you and you’ll feel much better.

18. Exercise You Enjoy

Exercise at least 20 minutes 2 to 3 times a week but choose something you actually ENJOY. If you hate running then figure out something else to get you in motion and elevate that heart rate. Play racquetball with a friend, swim, play pick-up games of basketball, ride your bike, take a hip hop class… you get the point.  Exercise can be challenging but it doesn’t have to be a complete chore. It should be enjoyable.

19. Donate 1 Hour Weekly

Donate 1 hour of your time to some form of charity or community service activity. You can walk dogs at the Pet Shelter, volunteer at one of the local soup kitchens or organize a food or clothing drive. When we freely give of ourselves in this capacity we are happier and we will find many blessings naturally start to manifest in our lives.

20. Customize A Healthy Diet

Tailor a specific, healthy diet to your tastes. You don’t have to choke down what the latest health blog or Dr. Oz told you. Take a list of healthy foods and pick out what you like and what makes you feel good. Look for some recipes to liven things up a bit. And don’t get intimidated by the word ‘recipe’ (especially guys). Most recipes are only a few ingredients and few easy steps. We aren’t making 5 star Master Chef cuisine here. Prepare food in advance and place in easy to seal and carry containers to conveniently take to work, events, etc.

21. Eat Dark Leafy Greens Daily

I’m sure you’ve heard this tired speech 100 times but I’ll give it again anyway. Dark leafy greens are alkaline forming foods that keep your waist slimmer, your immune system at top defense and leaves you feeling better. I agree, sometimes getting in these vegetables is difficult, especially the recommended servings. I recommend making it a little easier on yourself by adding a supplement like Super Green Formula to a yogurt and berry based smoothie once a day. It’s a quick, easy remedy to the situation and just watch how much better you’ll feel after just a week!

22. Daily Positive Affirmation(s)

Definition of affirmation: “The assertion that something exists or is true.”  Personal affirmations are statements we repeat to ourselves to affirm, and psychologically instill, certain life circumstances or personal qualities. Let’s say someone has low self-esteem they’re trying to improve. First, you must state personal affirmations in the present tense, as if they already exist. Second, you must state them in a positive context. You would not say, “I don’t have low self-esteem.” You would say, “I am a confident person.” These embed themselves into the conscious and subconscious mind to help manifest the desired outcome. Associating symbols or imagery along with the affirmation is even more powerful. Make your own personal affirmations or get ideas from a good book.

23. Eat Less Processed Food

We all know the drill but instead of just saying yeah, yeah, I’ll eat less processed food, make a game plan to avoid it. You can prepare meals in advance for portability and convenience. You can add those dark leafy greens and implement more whole foods which will naturally decrease your desire for those preservative loaded, highly processed foods. You’ll be feeling better and with more energy in no time!

24. Overcome A Fear A Month

Fear is a natural and beneficial adaptation but sometimes we let a healthy fear balloon into an irrational fear. Sometimes we let social fears keep us from trying the things we’d love to try the most. Tackle each fear one baby step at a time. Have a fear of spiders? Become comfortable with photos, then replicas, then a real spider contained in a mason jar. Afraid of public speaking? Join a Toastmasters chapter and sit in on a few meetings until you feel more comfortable, then add your opinion during topic discussions and finally give a short speech and go from there. Break down overcoming your fears into bite sized increments.

Why Do You Want To Alkalize Your Body?

2. Drinking A Daily Tonic of Baking Soda & Purified Water
Add 1 teaspoon of good ol’ Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to an 8 oz glass of purified drinking water and you have an alkalizing tonic. Baking soda, chemically, is sodium bicarbonate. The bicarbonate component is highly alkaline and is used in your body as a buffer to maintain pH balance and optimal function. Drink only one of these tonics daily. Less is more.

Now, don’t eliminate meat and everything in your diet that has been classified as “acid-forming” because the Alkaline Diet theory says so; consider other components to determine how healthful that food will or will not be for your health. You want a balance of acid forming foods and alkaline forming foods… with the emphasis on more alkaline forming foods like vegetables. As always, we want balance.

And remember! Always listen to your body. Some things may be extremely health enhancing and beneficial for the majority of individuals but may be a disaster for you and your unique body composition and physiology. Don’t ignore your body.

Shots of Wheatgrass with Two Orange Wedge SlicesWhen people in the health community talk about certain foods, drinks or supplements having an alkalizing effect on the body, what they mean is that these foods help increase our body’s blood and tissue pH, ever so slightly, toward being a tad more alkaline within the body’s natural, healthy range. To make your body very alkaline would be fatal. Don’t worry, under normal circumstances, that is a very hard feat to accomplish.

To fully understand this concept you need to understand a few simple ideas about acids and bases, the pH scale, and how they relate to the human body.

Acids and Bases

Chemical Warning Sign for AcidsAll of us are familiar with acids.  Strong acids like battery acid (sulfuric acid) or stomach acid (hydrochloric acid) are extremely corrosive and can eat through many materials. Now, there’s always a flip side to the coin. On the opposite side of the spectrum to acids are bases. Ammonia, often diluted to be used as a cleaning agent, is a very strong base. Lye (sodium hydroxide), which is traditionally used in soap, is also a strong base. In its pure, concentrated form, lye can melt through skin (remember that scene from Fight Club?). Yikes!

In the middle of acids and bases are substances that are pH “neutral,” such as distilled water. Most biological life thrives within environments around this pH range.

What is pH? The pH Scale Measures The Strength of Acids and Bases

Coca-Cola and other colas are acidic and can actually be used to clean toilet bowlsThe pH scale is a measurement of how acidic or basic a substance is, with neutral substances in the middle. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14.  At the bottom of the scale is pH 0 and categorizes substances that are the most acidic. Only the strongest of acids, like pure battery acid (sulfuric acid), are a pH of 0. They are the most corrosive.

As the pH increases, a substance becomes less acidic (corrosive) and more harmless, until it reaches a neutral pH of 7. A substance with a pH of 7, such as distilled water, is neutral and is neither acidic nor basic.

As the pH of a substance increases beyond neutral 7, the more basic it becomes. The strongest of bases (such as lye) being pH 14, is just as toxic and destructive as the strongest of acids.

The pH scale is logarithmic with pH 7 as the 0 point. All this means is that the difference in alkalinity or acidity between whole numbers is a factor of 10; in other words pH 8 is 10 times more alkaline that pH 7. We won’t go any further than that.

Just remember, in general, extremes can be dangerous (pure acids or bases) and sticking to middle ground is safer (neutral substances).

So an acid is acidic and a base is basic or also known as being alkaline. The term alkalizing means it’s effect increases the pH. It doesn’t mean it’s making something alkaline, just pushing it more toward the alkaline side of the scale.

The pH of the Human Body

The pH of a healthy human being is between the range of 7.35 to 7.45The pH of the human body’s blood and tissue is tightly regulated between a more neutral but slightly alkaline range of 7.35 and 7.45. Homeostasis or body equilibrium is typically at pH 7.4 and doesn’t deviate much. If your body goes below this range (below 7.35), you will suffer from acidosis (too acidic). If your body goes above this range (above 7.45), it will suffer from alkalosis (too alkaline). Both conditions are fatal and you will die. Serious stuff, huh? But remember, not to worry, this is not easy to achieve.  It does illustrate just how precise the human body is regulated. A healthy body sits in a balance, around that midpoint of 7.4.

Stress, improper diet and other factors cause our body to be slightly more acidic or below 7.4 and result in body imbalance, sickness and disease.

A stress-free environment, internal harmony, as well as a balanced diet containing alkalizing foods, helps our bodies maintain a more neutral pH (7.4 or a bit higher) and keeps our bodies healthy and working optimally.

Debate About the Validity of the Alkaline Diet & Alkalizing Foods

The debate about the scientific claims of the Alkaline Diet can be confusing.

I always try to provide the most accurate information; information you can trust. So, as I stated earlier, the ability of our diet to alkalize our bodies is a theory, not concrete science. There is a fervent debate going on whether this theory has any substantial, credible evidence to support it.

Promoters of the Alkaline Diet have stated that what we eat can have a direct effect on our blood, tissue and urine pH.   Alkaline forming foods have been proven to have a direct impact on our urine pH but not our blood or tissue pH.

Because alkaline foods have been proven to increase urine pH, the alkaline diet has been advocated for individuals with recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), compromised kidney function and for the prevention of kidney stones.

In regards to blood and tissue pH, however, there are three main unaddressed problems.

1. Alkaline forming foods have not been demonstrated to have a direct effect on blood pH. They do affect urine pH, however this is not a marker for overall health.

2. A more alkaline blood pH has not been demonstrated in scientific studies to be linked to overall health, with the exception of renally impaired patients.

3. The correlation between a more acidic body and cancer has been cited as proof that a more acidic blood pH allows cancer to emerge and flourish. Others refute this claim, stating that the increased blood acidity in cancer patients occurs after the cancer, as a result of the cancer itself. Natural byproducts of cancer cell growth create an acidic environment, so it appears we may have mistakenly bobbled the causality of the acidic environment and the cancer.

Having looked at both sides, the evidence is not there to support the specific claim that these foods can “alkalize” our blood pH. Even if they could, there is not sufficient evidence to suggest that a more alkaline blood pH is the source of increased health benefits.

Despite Potentially Flawed Theory, “Alkalizing Foods” Are GOOD

Despite Alkaline Diet scientific claim debates alkaline foods are irrefutably GOOD for youIt is true that your body’s pH is tightly regulated by sophisticated buffering systems and your kidneys play the most critical role in maintaining a precise blood pH. Your blood pH will virtually remain at a standstill no matter what diet you throw at it (in the short term). Now, just because your body faithfully maintains this pH, regardless of diet or supplementation, this is not to say that there isn’t a greater strain on your body to achieve this.

It has been proven that athletes recover after certain muscle exhaustion exercises, as in weight lifting, faster when given sodium bicarbonate. The extra bicarbonate is able to more quickly buffer the momentary rise in lactic acid that occurs from muscle fatigue. The lactic acid is the “burn” you feel when you are performing exercises and what accumulates afterwards resulting in muscle soreness the next day.

Providing your body with the right ingredients can help it maintain its equilibrium with less strain. Despite the overwhelming evidence that suggests alkaline forming foods do not have an effect on blood pH, they nonetheless are extremely good for your health and you will receive their benefits regardless.

While he concedes that foods do not impact the overall pH of the blood, he makes the excellent point that eating a lot of acid-forming foods can tax the buffering systems and force the body to leach from undesirable sources, such as the calcium phosphate within bone and teeth. Interestingly, this is in direct contradiction to Mr. Chris Kresser. How Different is Natural Toothpaste From Regular?

Here are some common questions about this toothpaste:

What does it taste like?
It tastes a tad salty but with an essential oil like peppermint it’s very similar to normal toothpaste taste.

How do you apply it since you aren’t squeezing it from a tube?
I just scrape a little up from the container with my finger and put it on the toothbrush or my teeth. You have to be careful to get it worked in at first because it’s not sticky.

Does it foam?
No, it does not foam. It has more substance than brushing with baking soda alone, which is good but it does not foam.

Is it messy?
Yes, it can be a little more messy. The coconut oil will start to become liquid from the warmer temperature in your mouth and there will not be the foaming action to keep it more contained. Just make sure you brush over the sink.

Does the toothpaste stay solid when I store it?
Yes, as long as it is stored at room temperature it will stay in solid form. Virgin coconut oil melts at 76 °F.

Does the toothpaste “go bad” quickly?
No, coconut oil is a natural antimicrobial and is added to many foods to serve as a preservative. Your toothpaste should be good for months.

Should I avoid spitting down the sink because of the coconut oil?
Yes, you should probably avoid spitting the used toothpaste down the sink, especially if you have a septic tank. Coconut oil rehardens at room temp and can clog your pipes.

Toothpaste Color Code

There is some information going around about a Toothpaste Color Code. It’s a little hard to phrase in order to search for the information. Some people will try to describe it as the Toothpaste Color Bar, some call it the Toothpaste Tube Color Bar and still many others will call it the Toothpaste Tube Color Codes. For the sake of continuity we’ll call it the Toothpaste Color Code.

There have been a lot of false claims regarding these little strips at the end of toothpaste tubes. On the back of the tube, where the tube has been crimped and sealed there is usually a little square or rectangle and it can be a variety of colors.

Circulating urban myth has it that if the Toothpaste Color Code is Green then it is All Natural. If it is Blue then it is Natural + Medicine. If it is Red then it is Chemicals + Medicine. And if it is Black then it is All Chemicals. This is false and pure urban myth. These strips or color codes are known in the manufacturing process as “Eye Marks” and are read by machine sensors in order to know where to crimp and seal each tube. They are typically the same color as one of the colors printed on the toothpaste tube.

What is resveratrol?


Resveratrol is most commonly known for being one of the healthy compounds in red wine.

It has been demonstrated through scientific studies that resveratrol has a number of beneficial effects on our health.

Antioxidant – Body needs oxygen for metabolism but natural byproduct is free radicals that attack tissue and dna. Resveratrol acts as an antioxidant, neutralizing or stopping free radicals from causing our bodies damage.

Heart – Increases NO (nitric oxide) production which relaxes your arteries and blood vessels causing a drop in blood pressure and better blood flow throughout your body. This increases nutrient absorption, sexual function and overall health. It also prevents against platelet aggregation that causes blood clots. Clots can be dislodged resulting in heart attack (aka MI or myocardial infarction)  or stroke (aka TIA or transient ischemic attack).

Anti-aging – Besides its antioxidant properties we discussed it also activates a group of proteins recently discovered, called the sirtuins, that have a profound effect on anti-aging. Resveratrol activates these anti-aging proteins.

Anti-diabetic – Resveratrol has been shown to decrease blood sugar levels after meals, increase insulin sensitivity and decrease common diabetic symptoms such as polyphagia (which is excessive hunger) and polydipsia (which is excessive thirst) and body weight loss (decrease in muscle, increase in gut).

Cancer – In lab studies involving mice, melanomas were prevented by topically treating the skin with resveratrol. Taking resveratrol by mouth did not afford the same protection. Perhaps the the stomach acid and digestive enzymes inactivates the anti-cancer ability of resveratrol or perhaps the concentration of resveratrol becomes to dilute. High concentrations directly to the affected area seem to be necessary. The same was shown with lung cancer. If taken orally resveratrol did not protect against cancer but if it was administered into the peritoneum or body cavity than it did afford this protection.

Skin – It protects the skin against harmful UVB exposure effects. It is starting to be used in beauty products. In a research study published in Experimental Dermatology the use of resveratrol and metformin protected against collagen degradation due to UV radiation.

Neuroprotective – Reduces beta-amyloid plaques or accumulations that result in Alzheimer’s disease.

Testosterone – Trans-resveratrol increases testosterone and has recently begun to be marketed in bodybuilding supplements.

Antiviral – Without any irritation or toxicity to the skin, resveratrol, when applied to the affected area, stops the virus from replicating. It has also been shown to enhance the effects of traditionally prescribed anti-HIV drugs. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of herpes, HIV, varicella-zoster, influenza and HCV (human cytomegalovirus).

Opioid reduction – When injected into the spinal column of opioid addicted lab animals the dependence on opioids such as heroin or morphine were alleviated.

Resveratrol Product Recommendation

After researching products on Amazon.com (I live on Amazon), I decided on a product I’ll be giving a shot (Resveratrol Extreme Juice Capsules). The name and bottle branding seem kind of hokey but the product itself fits all my criteria, is a good price and seemed to have the most significant/positive reviews (watch out for positive review loading, which sadly is happening A LOT more on Amazon).  I encourage you to do your own research and choose whatever brand and supplier you feel comfortable with. Ask around. I thought I’d recommend what I felt looked like a promising product : )

Understanding the Reasons Behind the Benefits of Coconut Oil

As science progresses we have reversed a lot of ill-fitted claims due to bad science. Margarine, a hydrogenated vegetable oil that mimics the texture and taste of butter, was once heavily promoted over butter. Butter was supposed to clog our arteries and give us heart attacks. Margarine was supposed to be the “healthy” alternative. As it turns out margarine and hydrogenated oils are a disaster to our cardiovascular health and many saturated fats such as butter and coconut oil are being shown to actually be beneficial to our health. Coconut oil is supremely unique in comparison to most saturated fats and the structural reasons for this offer the amazing health benefits it provides. Did you know there are different kinds of saturated fats?

Yup, we’ll try not to get too much into the structural anatomy of fats BUT… quickly, saturated fats are built from chains of carbon (resembling a caterpillar) with hydrogen atoms attached to them (the legs of the caterpillar). The links chaining the carbon backbone together can be single or double bonds.

Saturated fats have no double bonds between the carbon backbone, they are all single bonds and therefore have more room for hydrogen atoms to attach to them. This results in maximum hydrogen saturation. This where the term saturated fat is derived from. Unsaturated fats have at least one double bond between the carbon atoms that link to each other (decreasing its hydrogen saturation) .

A mono-unsaturated fat (e.g. Olive Oil) is a specific type of unsaturated fat that has exactly one double-bond in its basic carbon backbone structure. The double bond causes a crook (like an elbow) in the structure. This property usually makes them liquid at room temperature. On the other hand, saturated fats, like coconut oil or hamburger fat (without double-bonded crooks), solidifies at room temperature.

All saturated fats are not created equal.

Saturated fats come in different lengths and are also known as fatty acids. They are categorized as small-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) and long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs). Most of the saturated fats that we are aware of are of the long-chain variety. The longer the chain, the easier it is to get caught up within your artery walls. This is where the concept of “artery-clogging saturated fats” comes from. These longer fat molecules also have to be broken down in the traditional fat metabolism mode, namely emulsification and fat dispersion by bile (secreted by the gall bladder) and enzymatic breakdown by pancreatic enzymes.

Coconut oil, on the contrary, are medium-chain fatty acids and are short enough that they don’t require traditional fat metabolism. This relieves the body of processing power and also allows the fatty acids to go straight to the liver (via the portal vein) where it can be utilized for energy (and not stored as fat). Through the traditional route, long-chain fatty acids like hamburger fat, after being broken down, are absorbed through the intestinal lining and enter into the blood stream. This provides the chance to become lodged in arteries, delays its ability to provide energy and increases it chances to be stored in fat (adipose) cells.

Okay, enough science mumbo-jumbo. Coconut (including its oil component) is considered a functional food because its health benefits far outweigh its nutritional content alone. For a lot of reasons that aren’t fully understood, a functional food, such as a coconut, will enhance the overall functioning of your body and its processes. It facilitates the body’s ability to use nutrients and kick starts metabolism centers in your cells.

Cancer

Cancer, a growing plague upon modern society’s health. Adding garlic to your diet has been shown to dramatically decrease stomach, colorectal, esophagus, pancreas and breast cancers to name a few. Below I will post a video of a man who was told to eat a clove of garlic a week to help aid in his cancer recovery. Not knowing the difference between a clove and a BULB of garlic, he ate a whole bulb of garlic. His axial tumor ( under armpit ), the size of a baseball, was essentially cured overnight according to him. This is quite remarkable and his results should not be expected to occur for everyone.

Treatment: Garlic purifies and detoxifies the blood. This following cancer survivor recommends eating one entire bulb once a week for dramatic results. Slice up or mince a clove at a time, place on a large spoon with honey, swallow and repeat. Consult your physician before doing so.

Herpes / Cold Sores – HSV-1 and HSV-2

Herpes simplex 1 is usually contracted and manifested orally ( labeled a cold sore ) while herpes simplex virus 2 is usually contracted and manifested genitally. However, despite what is most common, either can be present in either locations.

Garlic is anti-viral.

Treatment: Simply crush a clove and place it in a small amount of olive oil ( teaspoon or so ), allow it soak for approximately 30 minutes. This will allow the powerful chemical compounds, such as allicin, to be absorbed. Now simply take a q-tip and apply.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids is where the vasculature ( veins ) within the anal canal become swollen and inflamed. Typically these veins provide support in performing a bowel movement but under continued strain and / or other conditions hemorrhoids can develop. This condition can cause a lot of pain depending on the severity. Many over-the-counter creams and suppositories are often employed to reduce swelling and pain including steroids, witch hazel and various analgesics ( pain relievers ).

Treatment: Coconut oil based garlic suppositories. Place a desired amount of organic coconut oil ( solid at room temperature ) on a sauce pan and heat on low temperature until in liquid form. Mince 1 to 3 garlic cloves and place in the oil, allowing the active compounds of the garlic to be absorbed by the oil. Drain off the oil from the minced garlic, pour into a container or Ziplock back and refrigerate. Once the garlic infused coconut oil is solid again remove from the fridge and pull off chunks that you will then roll into balls, making them the approximate size of a marble or what you deem appropriate for you and rectal insertion. These will be your suppositories that you will manually insert into your rectum. Administer one of these suppositories nightly. You should receive significant reduction in size and pain overnight. Continue until satisfied with results.

Warts

Warts are actually caused by a virus ( variations of the human papillomavirus ). Lucky for us garlic is such a powerful antiviral herb. Common warts are often found on fingers and toes but it is plantar warts that embed themselves deeply and most commonly in the soles of our feet. Plantar warts can begin to make walking painful. Garlic can take care of either of these wart types.

Treatment: Take a clove of garlic and cut it in half. Place and rub the freshly-cut and exposed portion of the clove on the wart. Alternatively, crush the clove ( insures the compound allicin is produced ) and then either directly place on the wart or soak the crushed clove in olive oil for 30 minutes then apply a dab or two ( with a q-tip ) to the wart. After the wart has been coated with garlic, cover with a band-aid or taped gauze to avoid it being rubbed off from contact. Repeat daily. Wart should die within 1 to 2 weeks. Apple cider vinegar is also a great alternative.

Erectile Dysfunction / Impotence

ED or erectile dysfunction is a serious male issue that can cause psychological and relationship repercussions to not only men but their female counterparts. Garlic has been known to increase the vitality of the cardiovascular system and its circulation. Hardening of the arteries is one of the most common causes of erectile dysfunction and garlic improves vein and artery structure by rejuvenating their elastic nature. When elastic they can dilate or expand and allow more blood to flow… especially to the area of interest in this scenario.

Treatment: Eating 1-4 cloves of garlic a day can effectively alleviate this problem within weeks to months. In a small interest study conducted by the BBC, 7 volunteers with erectile dysfunction were given 4 cloves of garlic a day for 3 months. At the end of the study 6 of the 7 men were noted to have marked improvement in ability to achieve and maintain an erection.

Note: This method will only work for men who are suffering from physiological ED not psychological ED. If your erectile dysfunction stems from a psychological origin this treatment will more than likely be ineffective.

Hair Loss | Alopecia

For most men, losing their hair has serious psychological repercussions, however, this condition is not without its fair share of female sufferers. Many women suffer from thinning hair, especially during menopause. Certain hormone replacement therapies such as Synthroid ( treating hypothyroidism ) can cause significant hair thinning. There are various drug and surgery strategies but most of these have serious consequences and side effects that would best be advised against. Garlic provides a natural and effective solution.

Treatment: Take 1/2 to 1 clove of garlic and crush it. Massage this into the scalp of the areas desired for regrowth of hair for 10 minutes. Allow the garlic to sit for 60 to 90 minutes and then shower and shampoo away. Some folks’ skin are very sensitive to garlic and direct application can cause serious discomfort and even burning. If this is the case, mince the garlic, place in a teaspoon or less of olive oil, allow oil to soak up garlic compounds for 30 minutes, then apply by massage as directed earlier. Eating a clove or two a day in addition can aid in the hair regrowth’s speed and success.

Cold and Sickness

Because Garlic contains such powerful antimicrobial compounds it is no surprise that it can help treat cold ( virus ) and sickness. Preventing an oncoming sickness is much easier to achieve than trying to heal a full-blown cold with your immune system deep in the trenches of battle. Garlic is great at preventing colds you feel coming on but it can also significantly reduce the duration and severity of a cold you are battling head on.

Treatment: The “garlic press” is a method where you take a paper towel, place a dab or so of olive oil in the center, add minced garlic on top and then crush. You then fold up the paper towel to contain the garlic and then drape across the affected area. The best places usually are the chest or throat, especially if you have an upper respiratory infection. Placing the “press” on the neck is a good place for the skin and lymph nodes to absorb the powerful sickness fighting compounds. To PREVENT a cold at first signs of a symptom take a whole clove and bite down on it between your molars and just hold it there ( do not chew ) as long as you can ( few minutes if possible ). This will knock out the cold before it has a chance to really take hold.

Athlete’s Foot and Jock Itch

Both of these conditions are fungal infections and can be treated effectively with garlic. Treatment strategies are much like those already outlined. You simply need to directly apply the garlic compounds.

Treatment: Crush a few garlic cloves into a few teaspoons of olive oil and allow the oil to absorb the garlic’s natural anti-fungal compounds for the next 30 minutes. Remove and discard the garlic pieces. Use a q-tip, cotton ball or gauze pad to apply to the affected area. You can also directly apply a cut-in-half clove to the affected area BUT some people experience extreme irritation and sometimes burning from direct contact. By using the oil you still achieve the same results but with less harshness.

Toenail Fungus

Toenail fungus, as it’s name applies, is a fungal infection that takes root under the nail bed and can cause quite a cosmetically problematic condition. Your toenail will become thick, hardened, green and yellow and will often warp.

Treatment: Crush a few garlic cloves into a few teaspoons of olive oil and allow the oil to absorb the garlic’s natural anti-fungal compounds for the next 30 minutes. Remove and discard the garlic pieces. Use a q-tip, cotton ball or gauze pad to apply to the affected area.

Garlic Extract Product: A British scientist was able to extract and determine how to stabilize Allicin, Garlic’s most potent anti-microbial / anti-fungal compound. Typically this compound begins the process of breaking down 15 minutes after crushing a clove of garlic. This dermatologist recommended product is called Alliderm Gel and is available on Amazon.com. Dermatologist’s regularly recommend it for skin conditions such as eczema, rashes as well as working extremely well at eliminating toenail fungus.

Diabetes

Garlic has been shown increase insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation, especially after meals ( postprandial ). From another study, garlic proves to decrease total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein and an increase in high-density lipoprotein.

Treatment: Slice or mince 1 to 2 cloves of garlic, place on spoon with honey and swallow. Eat 1 to 2 cloves of garlic daily.

Heart Disease

Homocysteine is a compound that has been demonstrated to be a better marker for overall cardiovascular health than cholesterol levels. Higher homocysteine levels is correlated with higher inflammation and hardening of the walls in veins and arteries. Garlic reduces homocysteine levels, rejuvenates the elasticity of these vessel walls and thins and purifies the blood. Garlic also can reduce high blood pressure levels by up to 8%. As mentioned in the diabetes section, garlic also decreases total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, LDL ( bad cholesterol ) and increases HDL ( good cholesterol ). Garlic also stimulates the heart cells to create NO ( nitric oxide ) the same compound that allows Viagra to increase the blood to the male penis.

Treatment: Slice or mince 1 to 2 cloves of garlic, place on spoon with honey and swallow. Eat 1 to 2 cloves of garlic daily.

Yeast Infections

Some women respond extremely well to the anti-fungal properties garlic affords in the treatment of yeast infections. Garlic is also especially helpful in treating recurrent yeast infections at the first signs of appearance ( slight tickle and itch that increases ). Some women, however, do not respond to this treatment. Despite this you may find it worth trying this natural, holistic alternative rather than monistat-like products or pharmacological agents ( fluconazole ). Oprah and Dr. Deepak Chopra guide us through a 21 day meditative meditation experience

Deepak and Oprah Narrate Our Experience

Both Oprah and Dr. Chopra are heard narrating this audio-guided meditation program. It begins with Oprah opening each day and imparting some insightful and inspiring wisdom to aid us in our natural unfoldment, attraction of abundance, self-worth and so forth. Oprah exits, handing the baton to Deepak, at which point he takes us deeper into the general concept of the day tying together some eastern philosophy and introducing us to our key daily meditative focus points. These focus points are a “Centering Thought” and the daily “Sanskrit Mantra.”

Dr. Chopra instructs us in how to breathe and relax while letting go of all thoughts, focusing only on our mantra for the day. He explains that he will strike a bell ( and you hear the demonstration ) at the end of the meditation, at which point he will gradually bring our awareness back to our bodies and we’ll open our eyes.  Before we enter the day’s meditation Dr. Chopra repeats the Sanskrit mantra for us a few times and a background of nature sounds plays ( birds chirping and such ).

I have taken the time to transcribe Day 1’s introduction and explanation of the Destiny and Desire 21 Day Meditation Experience by both Oprah and Dr. Chopra. Both deliver beautiful and inspiring words that usher us into this new collective experience with them. You really can’t get much better than this for free. Over the next 3 weeks we will share a journey toward living each day of our lives with inspired passion and abundance. Desire is often interpreted in spiritual philosophies as a selfish distraction, which when in indulged pulls us away from our connection to spirit. I believe that desires are seeds planted within to do just the opposite. I believe they lead us to our divine passion and purpose. They are our dreams our divine wishes, they are signs. When we pay attention to and explore our desires they help connect with our destiny. As the ancient Indian sages observed thousands of years ago our destiny is shaped by the deepest level of our intention and desire. Once we plant the seed of an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality our soul’s journey unfolds automatically, as naturally as a bulb becomes a tulip or an embryo becomes a child. Over the next 3 weeks we will contemplate a series of timeless soul questions to tap into our true desire and destiny. so where do we begin our journey? Long ago William Shakespeare observed a profound simplicity. It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. This wise statement leads us to our very first essential understanding as we step forward into our journey together. The most empowering transformational step we can take in life is to discover the truth within. Close your eyes for a moment and ask, “Who am I?” This timeless question has no wrong answer. Final Thoughts and Review

This was a great experience. I looked forward to doing the meditation every day. Aside from the meditation, each day started off with Oprah and Deepak gearing you up for the meditation and leaving you with some spiritual food to ponder and digest. We get so busy that we hardly stop and pause to reflect on the big picture and positive ways to filter and experience our reality.

This program boosted your self worth, increased your appreciation for your life and those in it and got you excited about life’s possibilities and the fulfillment of your own unique destiny. I personally don’t meditate with a mantra but enjoyed it and liked that I didn’t have to say it out loud.

I’ve tried out sanskrit mantras in the past and liked them but never stuck with them. The mantras do help give you an anchor to bring your drifting mind back to. Some say that those words are the sound manifestations of what they represent and by repeating them you automatically manifest them as the vibration of their sound resonates through your being and begins shifting it.

I learned that this was not the first meditation program that Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey have collaborated on and I hope that it isn’t their last. I will certainly be there for future programs.

I don’t know if its from the meditation and mantras but I am in a MUCH better place in life than I was before I began the program… in just 21 days. Hmm. Interesting.

It is nature’s antibiotic and as we’ll see, it’s been known and used as such for millennia. Despite the discovery and advancement of other forms of antimicrobials and antibiotics, silver remains a safe and able player in the arsenal.

Silver is the 47th element on the periodic table of elements and is known as a “transition metal” just as gold is. Silver happens to be the most electrically conductive metal, meaning it can pass an electrical signal down it quicker and with less degradation than any other metal. This makes it superior in things like musical instrument cable used in audio applications. Silver is also the most thermally conductive metal, meaning a given amount of heat can travel through it faster than any other metal.

Historical Anecdotes

Phoenicians stored their liquids in silver vessels to preserve then contents from spoilingPhoenicians used water vessels made of silver to keep water, wine and vinegar fresh and free from spoil or contamination.  Phoenicians were a seafaring, maritime people along the eastern Mediterranean sea around the time of the classic Greek era.

Persian king Cyrus the Great created one of the first boards of health and utilized the purification of water by boiling and then storing in large vat-like containers made of silver.  Cyrus the Great was a notable historical figure noted in religious scripture like the Christian Bible (Ezra 6: 3-5) and the Islamic Koran.

Today’s Use of Silver in Personal Health and Public Sanitation

Swimming Pool Purification

Silver is widely used to purify swimming pool water, and it doesn’t sting your eyes as chlorine does. A dramatic demonstration recently took place in Nebraska: Fifty gallons of sewage was pumped into a pool without any disinfectant. A standard measure of contamination is the count of E. coli, an organism found in the human intestinal tract. The count soared to 7000 E. coli cells per millilitres of water. Then the water was flushed through silver electrodes – and within three hours it was completely free of E. coli.” – Taken from 1978 report by Jim Powell.

 

Silver Nitrate for Canker Sores and More

Silver nitrate sticks are used as a form of chemical cauterization and are used for canker sores, ulcers, nose bleeds and moreSilver nitrate is a compound that contains silver. When introduced to wet or moist skin tissue it burns and cauterizes the area. Silver nitrate sticks (long, thin wooden stick with silver nitrate at the end) can be used to treat canker sores by essentially ‘burning’ out the sore… a sort of chemical cauterization with a natural antiseptic incorporated (the silver). Silver nitrate can also be used similarly to treat oral ulcers, nose bleeds (by cauterizing the most exterior tiny blood vessels within the nasal mucosa ) and to kill nail beds (podiatrists may do this after removing an ingrown toenail).

 

Eye Drops to Prevent Infection in Newborns

A dilute solution of silver nitrate is used after birth to prevent against sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrheaA dilute silver nitrate solution is sometimes used in newborn babies’ eyes in order to prevent infection of sexual transmitted diseases that can be introduced while the child is passing through the birth canal. It’s primarily used in this capacity to prevent a gonorrhea infection in newborn eyes. Such an infection can actually cause blindness to the neonate.

 

Burns

Today silver is used in burn cream preparations including the popular prescription cream silver sulfadiazine (brand name Silvadene).

 

Colloidal Silver Uses

Cold and Flu

Taking a 1 to 2 teaspoons of colloidal silver preparations daily when you have the first early symptoms of cold or flu can stop the illness dead in its tracks. Many users swear by this method to stay healthy all throughout the nasty cold and flu season.

Acne

Adolescents (as well as adults) have discovered that splashing a little colloidal silver on the face helps to significantly reduce pimples. The cause of zits or pimples most commonly occurs from clogged pores where certain bacteria (propionibacterium acnes) are allowed to multiply with sebum as its food source. Silver kills this bacteria and its ability to multiply.

Eye Styes

Some people discuss using colloidial silver preparations like Silver Biotics as eye drops to treat an eye stye or even some infections. A stye on your eye is a self-contained condition that will heal on its own within a weeks time in 99% of cases. Perhaps colloidal silver speeds up the process. I don’t endorse or rule-against this treatment but you may want to get more information on it before you implement its use.

AIDS / HIV

It has been anecdotally documented many times that even fairly low amounts of daily colloidal silver preparations cure AIDS/HIV. Strange Claims and Conditions of Silver

AIDS CURE – Silver-Compound CURE Registered with U.S. Patent Office

Tetrasilver Tetroxide, or molecular formula Ag4O4, is a strange compound related to a strangely obscure U.S. patent for an AIDS cure. AIDS or the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is when your body’s T4 immune cells drop below 200 as a result of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) hijacking them (eventually destroying them in the process of making more HIV cells). The tetrasilver tetroxide molecule is injected into the blood stream in a parts-per-million concentration and chelates (or in other words “binds”) with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other immune suppressing compounds and destroys them.  Now that may be a little heavy in the scientific arena for many readers but feel free to check out more info in the actual listing at the U.S. Patent Office website. It is U.S. Patent # 5,676,977 and can be found here. Whether or not this “cure” works is, I suppose, debatable. Otherwise, wouldn’t the world know about it and be using it to cure AIDS? I was under the impression that in order to get something patented you must demonstrate and substantiate with 100% accuracy that the patented device can produce its claim. If the patent office does issue the patent it is basically confirming the validity of the device to its claim, in this case a cure for AIDS. Maybe not? An interesting bullet point for silver nonetheless.

 

Argyria – Blue Skin Syndrome

Argyria is a condition where the skin’s pigmentation has taken up so much silver that it permanently causes blue skin. It usually begins with deposition around the nail beds. So if you’re looking to be a Smurf for Halloween and recall this article and believe that ingesting loads of silver will help make your “costume” be more convincing… just remember, it’s an irreversible condition.

Even heavy-metal chelation techniques does not remove silver deposits. I would, however, explain that this condition is extremely rare and usually is a result of a tremendous amount of silver consumption over a long period of time (and usually protein-bound silver preparations rather than pure silver ions suspended in water which is the nature of colloidal silver). The recommended maximum daily dose of most colloidal silver preparations is two teaspoonsful which contains a low number in the parts per million department… very safe and something not to cause concern when used properly. Silver, “Superbugs” and Antibiotic Resistance

It demonstrates the relative resistance to antibioticsA growing problem within the healthcare system is an epidemic known as antibiotic resistance. This is the evolutionary adaptation of bacteria to resist destruction by the antibiotics that are meant to kill them. You have probably heard of MRSA (methicillin (or multiple) resistant staph aureus ) in hospitals. These are killers because if the infection takes hold there are very few antibiotic choices left (if any sometimes) to clear the infection and many patients end up dying from sepsis / septic shock / SIRS. Silver is not a heavy hitter like intravenous antibiotics but many report anecdotally clearing long-standing infections (usually upper respiratory) with colloidal silver after trying multiple courses of traditional antibiotic therapy. Now, bacteria cannot, or at least have not found a way to, become resistant to silver as an antibiotic. The exact way that silver is able to kill pathogenic (illness causing) microbes is not well understood.

After evaluating over 20 water purification systems NASA settled on using a silver based system - This was in the 1970'sA meteoric rise in the acclaim and merits of silver-based health applications occurred in the 1970’s but not much later seemed to be mysteriously abandoned and even scorned.  The use of silver was being touted in numerous governmental and private sector research studies with applications in Japan, Switzerland and the U.S. Despite this voracious climb we soon saw an exponentially opposite descent from favor as we entered the 1980’s. Some believe this was in response to threatened pharmaceutical, medical and other industries. I don’t want to put much stock in conspiracy theories but suffice it to say, it was a strange reversal without much publicized evidence of support. It’s interesting to go back and look at these snapshots of history. So as you can see, there is quite a compelling history for silver-based health applications. There are many ‘authority’ discreditors out there selling silver as ineffective at best and simply dangerous in the extreme. These should evaluated with the evidence they have to support their claims. Colloidal silver and other silver-based health applications have been demonstrated to be safe and anecdotally effective for many. Simply look at Amazon.com reviews of reputable colloidal silver brands like Silver Biotics. They aren’t multi-million dollar research studies with results published in peer-reviewed journal articles but they still speak volumes. Use your voice of reason, resources and power of observation to make your own decision.
